It's Christmas time and there's lots of Christmas music on the airwaves as well as the internet. There are many jazz Christmas songs that are favorites among fans of the genre. Some examples include: 

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" - This classic holiday tune has been recorded by numerous artists in a jazz style, including Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, and Ella Fitzgerald. 

"Jingle Bells" - This festive tune is often performed in a swinging, upbeat style by jazz musicians.

My List of the 10 Greatest Trumpeters of All Time 

There are many talented jazz trumpeters who have made significant contributions to the genre, and it is difficult to definitively rank the best. Here is a list of ten highly respected and influential jazz trumpeters, in no particular order: 

Louis Armstrong: Armstrong is a jazz icon and is often considered one of the greatest musicians of all time. His style was characterized by his virtuosic technique and innovative phrasing, and he was a pioneer of scat singing. 

Dizzy Gillespie: Gillespie was a leading figure in the development of bebop and modern jazz. He was known for his virtuosic technique and his ability to play complex melodies with ease. 

Miles Davis: Davis was a pioneer of cool jazz and later went on to play a key role in the development of jazz fusion. He was known for his innovative style and his ability to adapt to new musical trends.

This is just a small sampling of the many talented jazz trumpet players who have made significant contributions to the genre. There are many other great trumpet players who could also be included on this list.

It's Good To Have A Diverse Range of Musical Influences 

I believe I'm lucky to have a diverse range of musical influences! Chet Baker, Miles Davis, and Dizzy Gillespie are all known for their contributions to the development of jazz music and are highly respected in the jazz community. Arturo Sandoval is a renowned trumpet player who has been influenced by these musicians and has also made significant contributions to the genre. 

Smooth jazz is a subgenre of jazz that is characterized by its relaxed, melodic sound and often features instrumental music with a focus on saxophones and other brass instruments. Rick Braun and Chuck Mangione are both well-known smooth jazz musicians who have gained popularity for their smooth, harmonious sound. 

As a music lover, you should have strong appreciation for jazz music and the musicians who have shaped the genre.
